Tom Riley, principal and founder of Capitol Words, is is a recognized author, speaker and a leadership trainer. He is the creator and instructor for insightful leadership training programs for California organizations involved in health care and other public policy issues. His clients learn the skills needed to advocate for their interests at the State Capitol, in the press, and within their own organizations.
Tom has provided legislative and regulatory consulting services for more than 20 years. He has a vast knowledge of government, how it works (and how it doesn't), and how successful advocacy depends on expert communication skills and personal networks. In addition to his work as a lobbyist, Riley is a senior fellow of the University of California at San Francisco's Center for the Health Professions, serves on several state and federal health care-related committees and task forces. Tom is the former managing editor of the California Family Physician magazine and a former editor-in-chief of California Primary Care News.
He is the founder and principal of Cal Capitol Group, a Sacramento-based advocacy and consulting firm.
